“Discipleship takes a lot of time, a lot of relationships. And especially in a culture like this, it takes a lot of trust. So I could sit down and do endless Bible studies, but if they don’t see that my care for them is genuine, then they’re never going to open up.”

— Nita Bukowski, Converge Global Worker

Nita & The MomCo

It was easy to see how MOPS groups had genuinely changed women's lives as I (Heather) sat in Nita's living room with them. They were scattered around the sofa and floor, sipping tea and poking fun at how about how closed off and quiet they used to be with each other. They each shared their personal stories of meeting each other, growing in relationship with God, and eventually taking on leadership roles through the encouragement of their 'American mom' and each other.

Due to the cultural Islam and heavy social pressure to not step out of the norm, it took tremendous trust for them to allow me in the room that day. We agreed to not capture the time together on video, but placed an audio recorder on the table and let the conversation flow.

I've loved hearing each of their stories of finding their identity and confidence in Christ, and I'm excited to share with you how this ministry has become what it is now.
