“We intentionally look every year to find pastors who are struggling, and these are the people we invite to come be with us – to try to help them to find the strength and some new tools so they can go on.”

— Bill Ankerberg, Converge Global Worker

Pastors Retreat in Estonia

The average Estonian pastor faces many financial and training obstacles to fruitful ministry. These faithful leaders of small churches always have more than they can do in a part-time or volunteer capacity, and many have struggled in silence.

During his time as president of the Baptist Union in Estonia, Helari Puu sought to provide resources and training for the pastors he served. In partnership with Bill Ankerberg, Converge, and several Converge leaders, he began organizing retreats for pastors who are struggling in some way, and over the course of many years, God brought a change to the culture among those pastors that has strengthened them spiritually.

Although Helari retired this year, his legacy lives on in the care and support extended to a small community of pastors in Estonia, Latvia, and Finland. Pastors and church leaders are better equipped and better supported as a result.
